PROCLAMATIONS OF HETMANS OF THE ZAPOROZHIAN SICH IN ARCHIVAL HOLDINGS OF THE STATE ARCHIVE IN LODZ (POLAND)

Abstract
Proclamations of hetmans of the Zaporozhian Sich, which are published the first time, are a special and unique kind of historical source stored in archival holdings of the State Archive in Lodz. In Lodz Archive a special place hold Archive of Bartoszewicz family. The process of forming the papers was initiated by Adam Bartoszewicz. His collection, initially small and composed mostly of books and manuscripts, significantly enriched and enlarged the son and grandson – Julian and Kazimierz. Archive of Bartoszewicz family isn’t a typical family archive. His authors gathered materials associated with literature, the social life and political activity. An important part of the archive is a collection of historical documents of foreign origin. That are, among others, privileges, including the royal privileges of Sigismund II, Augustus II, Władysław IV, Jan Kazimierz, as well as proclamations of hetmans Zaporozhian Sich, which for the first time are being returned to the publication. In archival fond called Archive of the Bartoszewicz family are six proclamations, signed by hetmans: Ivan Vyhovsky (one proclamation), Ivan Mazepa (two proclamations), Ivan Skoropadsky (two proclamations) and Danylo Apostol (one proclamation). Those documents regulated administrative and social relations, defined a legal status hamlet Ohonky, put on the river Uday. The oldest document is dated 1658, the youngest 1728.
