PRODUCTION PROFITABILITY OF SELECTED LEGUMES

Abstract

Crop and animal production constitutes one of the main components of bio-economy. In Poland, legumes have gained more and more importance within crop production, as their cultivation has attracted attention both within agricultural and environmental programs that had been introduced, and for its environmental beneficiary effects. The present paper gives an overview of the research on estimating soybean production profitability compared to common legumes in Poland as field bean and yellow lupin. The studies have shown that the main factors affecting the profitability of growing legume crops in Poland are subsidies to production, costs of agricultural treatments and the obtained seeds yields.
