Abstract
The article presents the results of the study of perceptual prosodic organization of inversion as a means of comical effect. The paper describes the phenomenon of linguistic inversion, provides a detailed gender analysis of loudness, pitch level, as well as melodic and temporal characteristics of speech in the English language belles-lettres discourse.
