Provision of housing for the Orthodox parish clergy of of Kyiv Eparchy in late 19th – early 20th centuries

Abstract
The article deals with provision of housing for the Orthodox parish clergy of Kyiv Eparchy in late 19th – early 20th centuries. It is stated that realization of the «Statute…» of 1842 contributed to gradual improvement of clergy’s housing conditions as the parishioners were responsible for building parish farmsteads. Material status of priests was of top priority. The article shows that the process of houses’ arrangement and equipment for parish priests and officiants was very active in the 90s of 19th century. In late 19th century clergymen were mostly provided with lodging but a significant number of houses were in poor condition and needed repairing. It is noted that the premises were in the temporary possession and the matter of their privatization was not solved.
