Abstract

The article deals with the psychological and therapeutic features of post-traumatic stress disorder in ATO participants. Post-traumatic stress syndrome develops from participants or eyewitnesses of events that are injurious to the psyche: experienced or seen violence, pictures of injuries, injuries, deaths of others, captivity, torture, humiliation, etc. For a long time they pop up in the memory of an eyewitness (participant), supporting the stress state of the brain. These people live in a state of constant internal discomfort and obsessive experiences that exacerbate the stress experienced. They are locked in themselves, constantly experiencing stressful experiences virtually, ready for unwarranted aggression and explosive inadequate deeds. The problem is also that it is difficult for people from PTSD to adapt in a peaceful environment, to find work and adequately to carry it out. They form a complex of «unsettled» and «useless». This condition exacerbates chronic stress, inciting such individuals to unpredictable behavior, violence, alcoholism, drugs, and even suicide. The psychological help is required by the soldier in three stages: during the preparation for service, in the advanced and after demobilization. The psychological problems faced by ATO veterans are also deepened through a society that often thinks fighters are at risk. The problem with the psychological rehabilitation of ATO soldiers is as important as ever. The war in the country lasts for the fourth year, and hundreds of people return after the terrible horrors with broken psyche and complete unwillingness to live in the surrounding world. This is not a problem that can be thrown into gravity, it’s something that you need to work for everyone - both the authorities and the fighters, and their families and friends.
