Psychological analysis of the phenomenon of the internet memes

Abstract
Theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of Internet memes is done in the article. On concrete examples the main properties of different types of investigated phenomena are considered: text, illustrative, complex and video memes. It is emphasized on the similarity of patterns of distribution of network memes and rumors. Positive and negative aspects of the phenomenon are highlighted.
