PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL CONDITIONS OF FUTURE AVIATION SPECIALISTSʼ SPEECH COMPETENCE TESTING EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract

The important aspect of professional education is the quality of foreign language speech competence from the viewpoint of aviation specialistsʼ training, developing their professional responsibility for aviation safety while the number and intensity of international cooperation are growing. Foreign language speech competence is considered as the ability to use the linguistic system for the purpose of communication in accordance with the situation, provision of which depends, among other aspects, on the effective and reliable testing of training process and result. The following psychological and pedagogical conditions of aviation specialistsʼ speech competence testing effectiveness are defined based on the theoretical analysis and practical activity experience. 1. The validity of testing, its conformity to the speech activity categories which future aviation specialists have to master. This condition ensures actualization of acquired knowledge and generated skills for the purpose of foreign language communication; improvement and more profound skills of English professional text perception, provision of free, according to the standard and functional and adequate proficiency in speech (listening, speaking and reading); terminology vocabulary development; developing skills to produce grammatical monological and dialogical speech; finding gaps in training content mastering and further achievements prediction in Aviation English study; studentsʼ training to be self-disciplined and to work independently. 2. The use of the system of testing methods. Each method is agreed to other methods. The system of testing methods of speech competence of future aviation specialists includes the combination of verbal, written, practical and test methods. 3. Taking into account the studentsʼ motivation level in the process of defining task content for speech competence testing. Different methods of speech activity testing are suggested depending on the studentsʼ motivation level to study English.
