Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2025, Vol 36, Issue 1

Abstract

Softball is a popular team sport resembling baseball, typically played on a smaller field with a larger ball, utilizing underhand pitching. To address the lack of instructional materials and inadequate sports equipment in teaching softball, this study aimed to develop instructional videos for teaching softball at Lambayong National High School. The study utilized a research and development design among Grade 8 students who were randomly selected and assessed their acceptance in terms of usefulness, and ease of use and their satisfaction with using the developed videos. There were 5 validators who evaluated the materials’ content, relevance, instructional aspect, technical aspect, and acceptability. The developed instructional videos were suitable for students to grasp the basic skills in softball as they meet the highest quality standard. Further, students had positive reactions towards the videos as it was accepted and regarded as a helpful tool in learning softball skills. Moreover, students found the videos worth watching as they stimulated their interest and positively engaged in learning the skills. Lastly, based on the results, it was found that the students’ acceptability has a statistically significant relationship with their satisfaction with the instructional videos in teaching softball. It implies that as the acceptance of the students increases, their satisfaction with the instructional videos also increases. Hence, this study suggests the utilization of the developed instructional videos by the teachers in secondary schools in the division of Sultan Kudarat and other divisions to elevate students’ learning engagement and learn basic skills in playing softball.
