Quality Assessment of the Library as the Educational Environment Enabling Studies: Analysis of the Attitude of Students

Abstract

Institutions of higher education, acting during the changes of educational paradigm and striving to guarantee the quality of studies, engage to create beneficial environment for studies and provide educational and informational services, stimulating self learning of students. The role of academic library is quite important in the processes mentioned above. The aim of this article is to represent the different perceptions of quality of studies as well as challenges to the functions of academic library determined by changeable environment. Moreover, to introduce the results of the research accomplished at Siauliai University concerning the attitude of students towards the services of the library, as the beneficial environment influencing the quality of studies, and their practical application. The aim is achieved by applying the methods of analysis of the scientific literature as well as the method of the survey, using the traditional questionnaire
