Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 4
Abstract
One of the most important methods for evaluation of treatment and care of diabetic patients is to assess the quality of life (QOL). Chronic patient like diabetes are face with many disorder in dimensions of QOL. The aim of this study is assess QOL and this dimensions and relational pattern between demographic characteristic. This study is crosssectional study with convenience random sampling. The sample consisted 161 patients with type2 diabetic who referred to diabetes center of Zanjan. Research instruments were standard instrument of QOL related to health included: physical (physical function, pain, daily activities, sleep, over all health), psychological (feeling), social (relation with relative) and demographic characteristic aspect of diabetic patients and specific instrument of diabetes which included problems and satisfaction with treatment methods. Data were analyzed with SPSS software. The data were Analyzed by descriptive statistics (mean, SD, variance) and inferential statistics (ANOVA, T.TEST, linear regression). The finding indicated that physical dimension (%49.1) and psychological dimension (%50.3) and social dimension (%9.9) and specific dimoinsion (%17.4) were desirable. The finding showed that independent variables (age, marriage, family income, sex, educational level) were meaningful relationship with QOL. From the total numbers of patient's %60.2 were female, %60 was married, %26 was graduated and %34.7 were occupied. Personal, social and economic factors can affect QOL in diabetic patients. It is suqqested that managers and programs should take care of bio-psycho-social support in such groups for improving quality of life in diabetic pationts.
