Quantitative Capillary Beta-Hydroxybutyrate Versus Quantitative Serum BetaHydroxybutyrate Measurement In The Diagnosis And Management Of Pediatric Diabetic Ketoacidosis: A Prospective Observational Analytical Study

Journal Title: Journal Of Pediatric Critical Care - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 1

Abstract

Monitoring blood beta-hydroxybutyrate is essential in the diagnosis and management of pediatric diabetic-ketoacidosis. Point-of-care capillary beta-hydroxybutyrate testing requires further evaluation in monitoring ketonemia. Study design: Prospective observational analytical study. Setting: Division of Pediatric Critical Care, Department of Pediatrics, JIPMER in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry, JIPMER from July 2015 to March 2017. Participants: 48 children
