Radiological Features of Thalassaemia-An Update

Abstract

ABSTRACT Thalassaemia is an inherited disorder of haemoglobin synthesis which causes different craniofacial defects. The clinical features results from anaemia and also iron transfusion therapy. This article presents skeletal and non-skeletal radiological features of thalassaemia using conventional and advanced imaging modalities by thorough search of literature which may be useful for clinical diagnosis. A review of radiological features by conventional, Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is compared and presented in this article.
