READINESS FOR A SCHOOL OF SENIOR PRESCHOOLERS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT AS A PREREQUISITE FOR THEIR SOCIAL ADAPTATION

Abstract
The article deals with the concept of «readiness for school education», «school maturity» in the interpre- tation of different authors. The structure of readiness for the school, criteria of school maturity, components of each stage is revealed. According to various authors, the structure of psychological readiness for schooling includes the following components. The peculiarities of children of preschool age with visual impairment are analyzed. Personal characteristics and adaptive capacity of this category of children were considered. It has been found that for the majority of children with visual impairment, despite the severe degree of optic defect, the optic analyzer remains leading in the cognitive activity of the child. The peculiarities of teaching children with severe visual impairment and peculiarities of development of adaptive skills are revealed. It is noted that integration into a mass school requires a deep and attentive study of the psychological characteristics of the child with visual impairment, of his individual abilities and the choice of an adaptation strategy in the new conditions and in the new collective because the situation of the transition of such a child to the new social con- ditions is stressful. A ascertaining experiment was conducted to determine the level of psychological readiness of senior preschoolers with visual impairment to schooling. The obtained results testify to the deficiency of motivational, intellectual and personal readiness of some children with visual impairment to school education, which causes a conducting of special corrective-developing work with a targe to form psychological readiness as a prerequisite for adaptation in the new social conditions for the child.
