Reading in English and managing information in environmental research

Abstract

The study was intended to set a relationship between the development of abilities for reading in foreign languages and the development of information literacy competencies in conducting research in the areas of environmental management and education. A bibliographic study was carried out for evaluating how The SCONUL Seven Pillars of Information Literacy and the teaching of reading in foreign languages from the perspectives of bottom-up, top-down and interactional models might result complementary, modeling allowed to design a training strategy, while its the experimental introductions helps in evaluating the impact on students development as researchers, the research was conducted within the ordinary activities of the English course of the Environmental Education Module. The findings include the description of a synergetic model that synthesizes the abilities for the management of information in a foreign language.
