Recurrence AT FSGS in renal transplant
Journal Title: Postępy Nauk Medycznych - Year 2010, Vol 23, Issue 3
Abstract
Recurrence of focal segmental glomerular sclerosis in renal transplant recipient usually manifests as massive proteinuria within hours to days after transplantation. Reccurrence of FSGS is recognized to be a disease associated with poor graft function and reduced graft survival rate. Due to numerous secondary causes, the differential diagnosis between late reccurrent and secondary FSGS is very difficult. The management of patients with recurrent FSGS is not well established because there are no prospective randomized studies with a view to the impact of FSGS on graft survival. This paper provides an overview of the possible pathogenesis and risk factors for recurrence of FSGS. Moreover the actual therapeutic approach in patients with recurrence of FSGS after kidney transplantation was discused.
