Abstract
In the article, matters of sustainable development and green economy have been studied. Sustainable development is understood as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Key aspects of sustainable development include economy, society and environment. Green economy is a vital part of sustainable development concept. It can be defined as a system of economic activities related to the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services that result in improved human wellbeing over the long term, while not exposing future generations to significant environmental risks and ecological scarcities. Regional dimension of green economy consists in uneven distribution of natural resources, population, economic activity. Development of each region is affected by many determinants – geographical, economic, environmental, institutional etc. Therefore, territorial dimension of greeneconomy must be evaluated through different indicators like spatial efficiency of economy, energyefficiency, supply of «green» goods. Generally, regions of Ukraine with highest levels of economic density have also worst environmental and demographic situation. Transformation of those regions towards green economy model will require serious restructuring of their economy. At the same time, some regions demonstrated high rates of economic growth and improvement of environmental conditions. Ensuring sustainable development of national economy requires clear understanding of territorial impacts of policy measures, as well as coordination of all regional policy actors in order to maximize positive effects.
