Relationship between Intellectual Functioning and Adaptive Functioning among Children with Down’s syndrome

Abstract
Background: Down’s syndrome is the most influenced syndrome by genetic and more related with intellectual impairment as well as social functioning. Objectives: The present study examined the relationship between intellectual functioning and adaptive functioning in children with Down’s syndrome. Sample: 25 participants from the both genders, male (15) and females (10) were selected purposively. Design: It is a cross-sectional hospital based study. Tool: The Vineland Social Maturity Scale was used for the assessment of adaptive behavior of the children with Down syndrome. Statistical Analysis: The analysis was done with different statistical method such as mean, standard deviation (SD), Pearson correlation to understand the impact and relationship between the variables. Results: In this study results indicated that male are more prominent to development of this disorder as well as they had poor adaptive functioning as compared to the female .Conclusion: In brief, it has been concluded that there is positive correlation between intellectual functioning and adaptive functioning.
