Relationship between ischemia modified albumin and lipid profile in type 2 diabetes mellitus
Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Research - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Introduction Ischemia modified albumin IMA is new biomarker of oxidative stress and ischemia IMA being increased in Diabetes Mellitus has been described in many studies Diabetes Mellitus DM a metabolic disorder is characterised by hyperglycemia hypertension and hyperlipidemia So our aim was to estimate the levels of IMA in type 2 DM subjects Also to evaluate the relationship of IMA with all the parameters in lipid profile 40TC LDL HDL TG41 in type 2 DM subjectsMaterials and Methods 120 subjects were selected from the medicine OPD of Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital Mangalore for study The subjects attending the hospital were from coastal areas of southern India Out of which 60 subjects were type 2 DM patients as per the ADA guidelines and 60 subjects were age and sex matched controls The biochemical parameters estimated were FPS 2hrPG HbA1C Lipid profile 40TC TG LDL VLDL HDL41 and IMA The results were expressed in absorbance units ABSU Data obtained was analyzed using SPSS 20Results The Fasting and postprandial plasma glucose HbA1c serum TG TC LDL HDL IMA were significantly increased in type 2 DM patients than in control subjects with the p value Conclusion The present study suggests that measuring IMA in dyslipidemic diabetic patients will provide an early index of ischemia and its severity This would help in the better management and prognosis of DMKeywords Hyperglycemia Hyperlipidemia Type 2 Diabetes mellitus IMA

Impact of Calibration of pipette on Quality Control Results
Background: Majority of biochemical investigations requires pipette for delivery of reagents and samples in clinical laboratory so that pipette that is used for the same must be properly calibrated for accurate results....
A comparative analysis of insulin resistance among tribal and non-tribal population with Type 2 Diabetes using estimated glucose disposal rate
Objectives: To compare the Insulin resistance among Type 2 Diabetics of the local tribal and nontribal population who are reporting to OPD of Midnapur Medical College and Hospital. Method: This was a Unicentric, cross se...
Estimation of serum Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) level in sickle cell disease (SCD) and its association with reticulocyte count in a rural population of Chhattisgarh state
Prevalence of Sicklecell disease (SCD) is ranging from 1 to 40% and more in state like Chhattisgarh because of more share of Tribal population by this state in India. Genetic mutation at a sixth position of the β-globin...
Evaluation of Serum Adenosine Deaminase (ADA) Values for Detection of Pulmonary and Extra-pulmonary Tuberculosis
Introduction: There is need of precise and faster diagnosis for pulmonary (PTB) and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB). Accordingly, there develops a considerable interest in the development of tests based on biochemica...
A study comparing values of serum sodium estimated by colorimetric kit method with those obtained by direct and indirect ion selective electrode methods
Introduction Electrolyte abnormalities are known to cause significant morbidity and mortality when it is not detected Dyselectrolytemias are usually treatable Hyponatremia is a common manifestation encountered in the eld...
