Religious elements of immaterial culture of selected Carpathian towns
Journal Title: Roczniki Bieszczadzkie - Year 2010, Vol 18, Issue 1
Abstract
The article answers the question: Are religious elements of immaterial culture present in Polish Carpathian towns? Coats of arms, names of streets, squares and alleys as well as patrons of public primary schools have been analyzed among 11 towns situated in the Bieszczady Mts., the Lower Beskid and the Carpathian Foothills. The author wonders whether the Carpathian richness in monuments of material culture originated of different denominations has its equivalent to religion-related names of public places.
