Abstract
The influence of the religious factor on the evolution of legal principles of the privateering craft in the first British Empire (1583–1783) is being studied. It has been proved that foreign and domestic scientists thoroughly studied the territorial and legal factors of development of the commercial privateering craft, but almost did not touch the problem of impact of Christianity on combating major maritime state on the dominance in the world ocean, using the licensed piracy.
