Rendering of usual cross-cultural units in Japanese translations of Taras Shevchenko’s poetry

Abstract
The paper focuses on the specificity of translation of Ukrainian fixed expressions with national and cultural characteristics into an unrelated language. The issues of possibility / impossibility of preserving their expressive features and communicative potential have been considered. Particular attention has been paid to the accounting of dissimilarities in social and cultural traditions between the two language communities in the speech usage level.
