RESEARCH OF ANTIWEAR AND ANTISEIZURE PROPERTIES OF THE GREASES USED IN ROLLING BEARINGS
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 239, Issue 5
Abstract
Rolling bearings exist practically in all machines where elements are interacting. They often determine the machine’s reliability, and the essential role (quite often unappreciated) is played by lubricant. The lubricant (lubricating oil or grease) decreases the frictional resistance and wear of the mating elements. In a majority of cases, the rolling bearings are greased, which considerably simplifies or fully eliminates its maintenance, and it also simplifies construction and consequently reduces operating costs. In industrial practice, greases of various types are applied. The suitability of a grease for specified working conditions is determined by the following characteristics: consistence, operating temperatures range, water resistance, and oiliness. The paper presents overall characteristics of the greases as well as comparative research results of the lubricating properties of the tested greases applied in rolling bearings. Research results show that Motor Life greases strongly improve lubricating properties of the tribological system, which is consequently able to stand higher loads and temperatures. Application of the grease which is characterised by better antiwear and antiseizure properties can, in difficult operating conditions, protect the rolling bearings against seizing and increase the reliability of the machine in which these bearings are applied.

THE INFLUENCE OF A UNIT LOAD ON THE STATIC FRICTION COEFFICIENT VALUE OF SELECTED METAL– –POLYMER FRICTION PAIRS
The main goal of the experiments was to determine the value of a static friction coefficient for particular friction pairs. Each friction couple consists of a plastic sample and a steel countersample. Pairs of materials...
AN EFFECT OF LIQUIDS WITH VARIOUS PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES ON THE ABRASIVE WEAR INTENSITY OF HYBRID LAYERS DETERMINED USING THE BALL-CRATERING TEST
The authors present test results concerning the resistance to abrasive wear of selected hybrid layers applied for improving durability of forming tools. For tribological testing the ball-cratering test method was used. T...
