RESEARCH OF POWER DISTORTION IN THE POWER SUPPLY AREA WITH WELDING EQUIPMENT

Abstract

Purpose. The article aims to explore the influence of the direct current welding machine on the electrical supply system of the mechanical shop. Methodology. When performing the work, the method of analysis an instantaneous power by its spectrum was used. The section of the industrial enterprise power supply system, which includes consumers with both linear and nonlinear characteristics, is examined in this paper. As a non-linear consumer DC welding machine was used. The electrical energy flow caused by operation of the welding equipment is characterized in a certain way by the power and distributed in the power supply system, affecting the loading of the step-down transformers of the shop sub-stations. As a result, the necessity of estimating this power flow arises. A model of the power supply system of the workshop, based on the equivalent circuit was created in the visual programming package. It allowed to obtain instantaneous values of the electrical energy quality indicators of the investigated section of the workshop. The assessment of the effect of the DC welding machine on the harmonic composition of current, voltage, instantaneous power and electrical energy quality indicators, such as the total harmonic distortion of current and voltage was carried out in the research. The powers effect on the operation of the step-down transformer was estimated. Findings. When researching of mode of the power supply system without using a filter compensating device, there was a significant distortion of the current and instantaneous power of the network. It was found out that the fifth and seventh current harmonics make the greatest contribution in distortion of the current waveform. A significant reduction in the total harmonic distortion of the current, and as a result of instantaneous power, was achieved by applying a two-frequency filter on the high volt-age side of the welding transformer. Originality. The shape of power spectrum to a certain extent reflects the efficiency of filter circuits. Practical value. When setting up the passive filters to reduce current harmonics, when assessing their efficiency, the spectrum of power harmonics should be additionally taken into account.
