Research on the growth and development of Texel, Dorper,<br /> short-tailed, their crossbred F1<br />

Abstract
125 lambs are selected in this experiment, which included Texel lamb ( groupⅠ), Dorper lamb ( group Ⅱ), the crossbred lamb F1 from Texel and short-tailed as the female parent ( group Ⅲ), the crossbred lamb F1 from Dorper and short-tailed as the female parent ( group Ⅳ), and short-tailed ( group Ⅴ). Properties of the growth and development of these lambs are measured in the same diet and management condition. The results show that the average birth weight of group Ⅰ(5.10kg) is obviously bigger than groupⅢ, group Ⅳ and group Ⅴ. The average birth weight of group Ⅲ is also bigger than group Ⅴ. The daily growth of group Ⅲ or group Ⅳ is more than group Ⅴat the age of 0~3 months, and more than the other three groups at the age of 3~6 months or 0~6 months.
