Abstract

The aim of this paper was to present the reserves of labour resources in agriculture on the basis of statistical data from the Central Statistical Office of Poland and indicate the possibilities to use them in rural areas. The paper presents the changes in the structure of agricultural holdings, the level of concentration of the labour resources expressed in number of annual work units (AWU) per 100 ha of agricultural land and the qualifications of farm managers. The paper also investigates the possibilities to utilize the surplus labour force in agriculture in rural areas, stressing the necessity to stop the migration of rural population to urban areas.
