Response of sorghum to nitrogen fertilizer at different plant densities

Journal Title: International Journal of Farming and Allied Sciences - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

A field experiment was laid out in at the Agricultural Research Station of University of Tabriz, to investigate the effects of different nitrogen (N) levels ( , and kg/ha) with three planting densities ( , and plants/m ) on nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), and agronomic parameters of sorghum (var. Kimia). The results revealed that almost all plant parameters were significantly influenced by applied N fertilizer rates. Increasing N fertilizer rates and plant densities led to raise biomass production and grain yield. The highest efficient use of N was obtained with kg N ha- and plants/m . These treatments were identified as the best way to improve sorghum grain yield under well watering.
