RESULT COMPARISON OF NUMERICAL ANALYSIS AND STRUCTURAL TESTS OF AEROSPACE TEST STRUCTURE

Abstract
The flaws resulting from the production process of fiber composite aerospace parts constitute a substantial problem for the exploitation safety of the structures. In the project TEBUK ‘Development of the technology for testing the resistance to damage of aviation and space composite load bearing structures’, which is carried out in the Institute of Aviation, the methodology which allows to predict the growth of the production flaws has been developed. The methodology was validated for the case of aerospace structure. A test structure referring to I-23 ‘Manager’ horizontal stabilizer was designed in order to validate the method. An artifitial production flaw – delamination, was placed in the test structure skin. During the structural tests the behaviour of the delamination and entire structure was recorded with the use of the strain gauges. In addition to the structural tests the FEM analyses aiming to model the behaviour of the structure and delamination were carried out. The FEM analysis results were compared to the results of the structural tests. The good cosistency between the results of the analyses and tests allowed to confirm the validyty of the analysis methods.<br/><br/>
