REVIEW ARTICLE - COSMECEUTICALS: HERBS USED AS COSMETICS

Abstract
Herbal medicine is now used by over half of the population of the world for healthy living. Modern medicine is rooted in ethnobotanical traditions using indigenous flora to treat symptoms of human diseases or to improve specific aspects of the body condition. Herbal Cosmetics have growing demand in the world market and is an invaluable gift of nature. Herbal formulations always have attracted considerable attention because of their good activity and comparatively lesser or nil side effects with synthetic drugs. This review seeks enlighten the herbs mostly used in cosmetics, need to establish quality parameter, regulatory statusand the current trends in cosmetics.
