ROBUST CONTROL FOR HAPTIC-BASED ROBOTIC TELEOPERATION
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2013, Vol 58, Issue 1
Abstract
The paper deals with teleoperated robotic systems that are commanded by a human operator via interface that provides task feedback information. In order to successfully perform challenging tasks, not only visual, but also a haptic feedback is strongly desired. Thus, such teleoperator system has to be controlled bilaterally. The paper presents a bilateral control scheme which is designed based on modal decomposition to decouple force and position coordinates. The control algorithm is derived following the sliding mode control approach which guarantees robustness to model perturbation, parameters uncertainty and system disturbance. The proposed design also applies external force observer; thus, none external force sensor is required. The design was experimentally validated on a simple master-slave teleoperator with a 1-DoF robotic system.

NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF NAKAZIMA FORMABILITY TESTS WITH PREDICTION OF FAILURE
This paper presents results of numerical simulations of the Nakazima test with determination of formability without using the forming limit curve. The onset of localized necking has been determined using the criterion ba...
DYNAMICS OF THE HEXAPOD PARALLEL ROBOT
Recursive matrix relations in kinematics and dynamics of the Hexapod parallel robot are established in this paper. Controlled by six forces, the parallel manipulator prototype is a space six-degrees-of-freedom mechanical...
THIN FILMS FLOW DRIVEN BY GRAVITY AND A SURFACE TENSION GRADIENT
The flow of a thin layer on a horizontal plate in the lubrication approximation is considered. The flow is driven simultaneously by gravity and some gradients of surface tension. These gradients imply a non-zero tangenti...
MODELING THE EVOLUTION OF FATIGUE FAILURE WITH PERIDYNAMICS
Holes and round notches are locations where fatigue cracks may arrest. Investigating the evolution of fatigue cracks after sinking into such a hole is important. Here we extend a recently proposed fatigue crack peridynam...
LATERAL TORSIONAL BUCKLING RESISTANCE OF CASTELLATED BEAMS
Castellated beams are likely used structural elements in building structures especially in deck systems and in steel frames. The castellated beams are usually produced by cutting a traditional I-girder and welded by crea...
