Abstract
The review articl e presents general characteri stics of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) , it s role in head and neck pathology, bu t concentr ating mos tly on EB V as a carc inogenic agent in nasopharyngea l carcinoma and oth er maligna ncies with manifestation in head and neck region. The review concentr ates on current concepts of EB V prevent ion, the signifi cance of EBV presence in diagno sis of malignancies, actual tendenc ies of thera py directed on EBV, and mon itoring of trea tment results of abovementio ned tumors.
