Role of District Industries Centre to Promote Business Growth of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises: Empirical Evidence from Mayurbhanj District in Odisha

Abstract

The present study is a humble attempt to assess the role of District Industries Centre to promote business growth of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. On the basis of primary data collected from 320 industries that include 15 per cent of industries from each category, it is found that there is significant improvement in business growth of the MSMEs registered under DIC in terms of working capital, procurement of raw materials, employment of workers, capacity utilization, cost reduction, annual sales and profit. Thus, it is suggested to strengthen the DICs with more funds and freedom for industrial growth leading to overall economic development of the country.
