Role of Flower Strips in Pest Control in Agricultural Fields

Abstract

Because of their potential to aid in pest control and lessen the burden on agricultural ecosystems, flower strips are increasingly being used as part of agro-ecosystem protection initiatives. Because of their ability to improve functional biodiversity—a precondition for the delivery of ecosystem services like pollination and natural pest control—they have several applications in agronomy. The many uses and enormous potential of floral strips have just come to light thanks to scientific investigation. The European Green Deal is an initiative to green the European Union (EU), and this article gives a summary of the most relevant data and studies pertaining to flower strips that might be used as a tool in this endeavor. Flower strips may aid in the ecological intensification of agricultural landscapes when heavy chemical treatments have exacerbated the deterioration of such landscapes.
