In modern times, the state has to play a vital and ever-expanding role to accelerate process of economic growth. The vicious circle of under-developed equilibrium can be broken only by a comprehensive government planning of the process of economic development. The major emphasis of this paper are an Government measures to promote economic development and provision of economic and social overheads, provision of financial facilities and the direct participation and indirect measures.
