Journal Title: Mintage journal of pharmaceutical and medical sciences - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
Objective: The objective of the present review was to compile the identified or investigated roles of antioxidants in the biological system. Conclusion: Evaluation of the present compilation on roles of antioxidants revealed that antioxidants increase the antioxidant capacity of the plasma and reduce the risk of certain diseases. Antioxidants destroy the presence of free radicals and prevent the growth of free radicals by preventing oxidation. Oxidative stress is an important part of many human diseases, therefore, antioxidants play important roles in preventing the disease by inhibiting oxidation in a living system. Also natural antioxidants are more beneficial in comparision to synthetic antioxidants.
