Rozmowa z Borysem Woźnickim. Ratowanie zabytków przed zagładą. Wspomnienia dyrektora Lwowskiej Galerii Sztuki
Journal Title: Przegląd Wschodni - Year 2017, Vol 14, Issue 55
Abstract
The article concerns Professor Jana K. Ostrowski’s interview with Borys Woźnicki – recently deceased director of the Lviv National Gallery – during a car trip from Lviv to Olesko, on 6 September 2011. In Ostrowski’s opinion, Woźnicki’s response is an important source concerning the dramatic history of saving art in the former Polish borderlands during the period of Soviet rule. The value of this source material increased following the death of the Galley’s longserving director in a car accident on 23 May 2012. The following text is a direct transcription of their conversation. Editing was carried out for the purpose of clarity and grammatical correctness. The conversation was earlier published in French, in the catalogue for the exhibition of Jan Jerzy Pinsel’s (Pinzel) carvings at the Louvre in Paris, which took place at the turn of 2012–2013.
