SCIENTIFIC BASIS OF GEOGRAHICAL SCIENCES AND ITS CENTER IN UKRAINE IN THE XIX CENTURY

Abstract
Purpose of the article is the study of history of natural geography on the territory of modern Ukraine/ Since from here it follows the object of study – a historical snapshot achievements of scientists of antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Age of Discovery (XV – beginning of XVI century.) Scientific opinions and organizing university departments of geography on the territory of Ukraine Metodology. Article based on the use and synthesis of a wide range of archive and literary materials, including leading scientists of the Center for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History named G.M. Dobrov NAS of Ukraine (Kyiv) and modern developments of searches on the study of history geography. In writing the article was used problem-chronological and comparative historical research methods, which made it possible to consider natural-geographic research in chronological order. Results. The article considers the fundamental basis on which began to develop the natural geography of the territory of modern Ukraine. Focuses the reader’s attention on the scientific achievements of researchers (Polish, Hungarian, Romanian, Russian and other geographers) who have committed significant scientific achievements of applied and theoretical nature of the development is natural – geographical research on land and waters of the oceans in the time interval from the time of antiquity – XIX centuries . (inclusive).Received considerable attention in chronological order, the historical formation of departments cut geographical focus in the first universities (now Lviv National University Ivan Franko, Kharkiv National University. V. N. Karazin, Kiev National University. Taras Shevchenko, Odessa National University. I. I. Mechnikov) present Ukraine during the XIX century.
