Abstract
The work presents selected elements of functioning of scientific societies in the area of adult education. The basic condition for lifelong education is self-education and own educational and cultural activity. Scientific societies are a place of self-education, not only for its members but also for the people in the community. Societies are involved in diverse educational activities, as well as shaping appropriate attitudes<br/><br/>
