SELECTION OF STEEL ELEMENT FOR POLYMER– –METAL FRICTION PAIRS

Abstract
Tribological characteristics were investigated using the polymer–metal friction pairs working without a lubrication in the presence of air and in atmosphere of indifferent gas. Following materials have been tested: 56100 steel, Armco iron and acid-proof steel disc and bearing with polyethylene UHMW. Researches were undertaken in presence of oxygen and argon. Acquired results of the test indicate that 56100 steel does not cooperate with polymer.
