Self-medication with oral and injectable contraceptives in women of childbearing age: results of a pilot plan

Abstract

Self-medication consists of the selection and use of medications by people, without the participation of the doctor or his prescription, in this sense it is considered as a constant phenomenon that occurs as a consequence of needs and problems of multiple causes. , especially of an economic nature. Objective: To validate an instrument to measure self-medication with oral and injectable contraceptives in women of childbearing age. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive field investigation is carried out. A pilot test was used to establish the validity, relevance and coherence to determine the degree of reliability of the quantitative instrument designed, which was validated by expert judgment. Twenty self-medicated women with oraland injectable contraceptives, selected randomly, were surveyed. Results:Regarding the validation of the instrument, a score of 99.4 validity, 99.2 relevance and 99.4 coherence is obtained, in its totality of 298, giving us a final result of 99.3% reliability. Conclusion:the instrument has been approved for its reliability and validity, being suitable to be applied to the sample that represents this research
