SEPARATISM AND ITS ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS

Abstract
The article highlights the views of various researchers on the concept of «separatism», its essential characteris-tics, the author analyzes various approaches to the definition of separatism, its causes and the forms of its manifesta-tions. The subject of this article is to familiarize with the basic characteristics of the phenomenon of separatism, the determination of its main features and functions, causes and main manifestations of this phenomenon. The aim of this work is elucidation of the essence of separatism and familiarization the various manifestations of this phenomenon. At the time of writing this article, the author has used such scientific methods as analysis and synthesis, synthesis, comparison, induction and deduction. Among the special methods were used: structural, critical and constructive dur-ing the formulation of conclusions and the like. This work can be used in teaching such courses as «Politics», «Geopolitics» and others. Separatism is a socio-political phenomenon that has both negative and positive impact on society. The possible typology of separatism provide an opportunity to highlight the complexity and variability of the manifestations of separatism, pointing to various socio-political significance of this phenomenon.
