CHILEAN FOREIGN RELATIONS UNDER MICHELLE BACHELET

Abstract
The article is dedicated to the analysis of the Chilean foreign policy during Michelle Bachelet presidency. It is possible to distinguish a range of foreign policy directions, active cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region and the USA, strengthening of relations with the Latin America countries, the MERCOSUR – Pacific Alli-ance dialogue and partnership with numerous international organizations are among them. Special emphasis is paid to the Pacific direction of Chilean foreign policy under Michelle Bachelet and her activity as the Head of The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women commonly known as UN Women. Michelle Bachelet participated in all possible summits of the main Latin America organizations – Free Trade Or-ganization of Latin America (ALCA), Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and Organization of American states (OAS) – and the Ibero-American ones, where proclaimed the necessity to intensify regional economic and poli-tic cooperation. Under Michelle Bachelet Chile actively cooperated with Argentine, Bolivia, Brazil, Peru and Venezuela within the Latin America region. Huge attention to the relations with the USA and Spain was also paid. However the Pacific Alliance direction remained as the most important one. Moreover Michelle Bachelet actively cooperated with all the countries of the world within the gender equality and women’s empowerment directions
