Abstract

Anatolian, as is known, started being settled by the masses of immigrants from Turkestan, Khorasan and Azerbaijan during the three hundred years period between years 1000-1300, and thus its ethnic character entered a period of rapid change. Şereflü Horde had the second largest population among nomadic Turkoman communities living in Aksaray region. This Horde, from which was a very big community consisting of 30 villages and a population of more than 3000, and was meshed into Koçhisar District, extending from the north of Aksaray District to the south of Kızılırmak. Although the tribe dwelled in Aksaray-Koçhisar Region in 1830s, it was administrated by state centre, and was excised by taxmen under the name of “Şerefli Türkmanı Mukaatası”. Tanzimat Era, Şerefli Horde was formed a “directorate”, and was later annexed to Boynuincelü Disctrict (Horde) which was given the status of “administrative district” in 1841. However, since the district was managed poorly, Şerefli Horde was deprived of its privileged status, and all the villages under its control were annexed to Aksaray and Koçhisar Districts.
