Setup Optimization Of Engraving Process Cnc Laser Cutting Machine On Acrylic Material Using Simplex Centroid Design And Response Optimization

Abstract

This article presents research related to the optimization of setup level composition in the engraving process of CNC laser cutting machine G-Weike LC6090 type on acrylic material. This research is needed because there is no tabulation reference for engraving process setup level on the machine, so the process setup only based on estimates. This raises problems related to the quality of process results, machining efficiency, and laser-producing CO2 tube lifetime. This article shows optimizing results of the optimal setup level composition for engraving using the Design of Experiment (DoE) with Simplex Centroid Design (SCD) method and multi-response optimization. The composition setup factor in this study is the speed rate, power, and laser feeding interval. The multi-response parameters measured are process time, depth, and roughness. The mathematical formulation model will be generated from each response parameter, then response optimizing is based on desired depth. The results shows there is a trade-off on the multi-response parameters, and the optimal composition level setup is obtained for the limit depth (p) 0.3 mm ≥ p ≤ 1.34 mm.
