Sex and Gender as Aspects of Business Management (Network Organizations
Journal Title: Zeszyty Naukowe Wydziału Zamiejscowego w Chorzowie Wyższej Szkoły Bankowej w Poznaniu - Year 2015, Vol 17, Issue
Abstract
Management (perceived as a practical activity as well as a science) is not gender- neutral but it is, notably in traditional approaches, characterized by a distinct masculine bias termed as androcentrism. The recognition that humans are intrinsically differentiated by sex and gender is at the core of feminism and has also become the cornerstone of the European Union’s strategy of gender mainstreaming. The paper seeks to, on the one hand, capture and describe the links between gender differentiation and management, and on the other, to indicate how gender- -sensitive management could be inscribed into the model of network-centric organization.
