Significance of Electronic Resource Management in Information Architecture of Modern Libraries

Abstract
In the recent scenario, there is a tremendous increase in quantity and intricacy of electronic resources within libraries and information centres. The transformation of traditional library into electronic library and library resources into e-resources has created enormous challenges in the field of librarianship. E-resources include materials like e-books, e-journals, e-encyclopedias, databases etc. For proper organization and functioning of these e-resources some management is required which is termed as electronic resource management. It (Electronic Resource Management) refers to collection of various issues, functions, techniques and procedures related via administration of electronic resources in libraries. Now a day’s librarians have to acquire knowledge regarding arrangement and coordination of resources in order to have simple and rapid access via them. Moreover various emerging challenges and issues of this area (electronic resource management) must be taken care of properly. This paper deals with the concept of electronic resource management system and its relevance in the field of libraries and information centres.
