Significance of Using Questionnaire «Quality of Life Assessment in Adults with Growth Hormone Deficiency» in Patients with Non-functioning Pituitary Adenomas and Various Tumors of Chiasmosellar Area in Pre and Postoperative Period
Journal Title: Міжнародний ендокринологічний журнал - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 58
Abstract
The authors surveyed 136 adult patients with growth hormone deficiency (GHD) of various origins (pituitary tumors and IHD — a comparison group). Study based on GHD questionnaire QoL-AGHDA quality of life of 136 patients revealed that in all groups the mean score was higher than normal in comparison with normative data (normal < 11 points), at that the most reliable it was observed in patients from the first, third, fourth groups and second subgroup of the fifth group of patients. Significant correlation between low basal values of GH, IGF-1 in blood plasma and average values of the GHD questionnaire QoL-AGHDA was found in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th groups and the second subgroup of 5th group of patients, which confirms the high efficiency of using GHD questionnaire QoL-AGHDA in patients with GHD of various origins. In 36 patients 3 months after the TGE there was significant increase of mean scores by GHD questionnaire against decrease of average values of GH and IGF-1. This shows that in the early postoperative period in patients increases the severity of hypopituitarism, and raises the question of the administration of hormone replacement therapy.
