SIGNIFICANCE TEST IN EXPERIMENTAL DETERMINATION OF THE QUENCHING DISTANCE FOR n-BUTANE-AIR MIXTURES AT VARIOUS INITIAL PRESSURES
Journal Title: Analele Universitatii din Bucuresti. Chimie - Year 2009, Vol 18, Issue 1
Abstract
An empirical correlation between quenching distance, qd, and initial pressure, p0, has been used to estimate the model parameters for the butane-air mixture through linear regression. The tests of significance of the two models for qd = qd(p0) dependence for several data sets obtained at different insulating disk diameters and close to stoichiometric compositions of butane in air have been made. The results were further analysed in view to evaluating the performance of the experimental technique.

KINETICS OF THE THERMAL DISAPPEARANCE OF RADICALS FORMED DURING THE RADIOLYSIS OF SODIUM TELLURATE (Na2TeO4 •2H2O)
An EPR study of the paramagnetic centers formed by gamma irradiation of polycrystalline Na2TeO4 •2H2O (BDH) was made. In the EPR spectra recorded at room temperature, the presence of two types of radicals was observed; t...
INCIPIENT PHASE OF THE CATALYTIC IGNITION OF LEAN n-HEPTANE-AIR MIXTURE
The incipient phase of catalytic ignition of 1.20% n-heptane-air over the surface of a heated platinum wire has been investigated at atmospheric pressure. The experimental setup allowed for ignition in isothermal conditi...
EXPANSION COEFFICIENTS AND NORMAL BURNING VELOCITIES OF PROPANE-AIR MIXTURES BY THE CLOSED VESSEL TECHNIQUE
The normal burning velocities of propane-air mixtures were calculated from the expansion coefficients and the cubic law constants of flame propagation in the early stage of closed vessel explosions, using the adiabatic c...

A CHEMICAL AND PHOTOCHEMICAL STUDY OF RADICALIC SPECIES FORMED IN METHYLENE BLUE ACIDIC AND BASIC AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
Electron spin resonance spectra have been used to gain information on the mechanism of photolysis of aqueous solution of methylene blue. The identity and behaviour of the semiquinone radicals formed as intermediate reduc...
