SIMULATION FOR INSTABLE FLOATING OF HYDRODYNAMIC GUIDES DURING ACCELERATION AND AT CONSTANT VELOCITY
Journal Title: Journal of Machine Engineering - Year 2018, Vol 18, Issue 3
Abstract
High speeds and the resulting hydrodynamic pressure lead to significant floating of the linear guides. During this movement, the floating behaviour shows phenomena that can be explained by the Reynolds equation. This paper presents a dynamic model of the floating behaviour, which adds tribological approaches to the common Reynolds equation since the floating behaviour does not only depend on the speed, but also on numerous other conditions. This developed simulation method is based on the use of finite difference elements and was implemented using Simulink and Matlab, allowing flexible implementation of further influences such as lubrication cycles and geometry of the sliding surface. After adapting the simulation model and determining the parameters, the calculated floating behaviour corresponds well with the experimental results.

INVESTIGATION OF LOCAL AND MODAL BASED ACTIVE VIBRATION CONTROL STRATEGIES ON THE EXAMPLE OF AN ELASTIC SYSTEM
Nowadays, feed axes are often equipped with multiple parallel-acting actuators in order to increase the dynamics of the machine tool. Also, additional actuators for active damping are widely used. Normally, the drives or...
EXTENSION OF A PHASE TRANSFORMATION MODEL FOR PARTIAL HARDENING IN HOT STAMPING
The quality of predicted microstructural and mechanical properties in hot stamping simulations relies considerably on the material model. Many researchers studied the effect of the plastic deformation on the phase transf...
Evaluation of different approaches to 3d numerical model development of the contact zone between elementary asperities and flat surface
This paper presents two triaxial finite element (FE) models: a “full model” and a “quarter model”, representing the contact between the specimen’s rough surface and the ideally smooth and flat surface of the punch. Model...
SIMULATION TESTS OF ADAPTIVE CONTROL STRATEGIES FOR CNC MACHINE TOOLS
The issue addressed in the article concerns the current needs and possibilities of computer-aided design of adaptive control strategies in machining processes. A simulative method of selecting the adaptive feed control...
ASSESSMENT OF SURFACE ROUGHNESS IN MQL ASSISTED TURNING PROCESS OF TITANIUM ALLOY WITH APPLICATION OF TOPSIS-AHP METHOD
The optimization of surface roughness values considered as one of the most significant issues regarding turning process of titanium alloys with the use of minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) method. With such an aim in mi...
