Sliding method of conveyor’s passageway placement in a seismic risk region

Abstract

The experience of 146m length conveyor’s passageway placement on four bearings with a sliding method is given in the article. The gallery passes under railroad tracks, which were in use. The assemblage takes place in seismic risk zone of Odessa’s region. Rather an interesting assembly method was used. At sliding time the passageway changes its design model and as effect of this changes we have another values of stresses in elements. The assembly is carried out at a height of more than thirty meters above railways. In that case, very important calculations and analysis of bearings behavior were executed by the authors of the article. Calculation of seismic resistance of passageway construction elements and bearings was also made. Calculations were executed in two phases: assembly and design position. On September 24th the earthquake happened in Romania. At that time the seismic station, placed in Odessa region, registered the magnitude of 4 earthquake intensity. At the earthquake’s time the assembly of passageway wasn’t finished. Next day the visual inspection of load-carrying structures condition were made. Neither damages or faults after earthquakes were found.
