SMALL WIND TURBINE SIMULATOR

Abstract

The article presents a concept of the wind turbine simulator, built on the basis of cage induction motor, supplied from a frequency converter. The model assumes control of the engine torque, taking into account the moment of inertia of the simulated turbine. Functionality of the control structure has been verified using PSIM simulation software. Performance of the system for different wind conditions has been shown. Results of research proof that speed and turbine power are well tracked by the motor – wind emulator. The paper presents hardware implementation of the simulator as well.
